Wildcats square off against Pirates

The Kaplan Pirates and Abbeville Wildcats are facing off for the first time this year, and heading into this game these teams have a lot of similarities.

Both Kaplan and Abbeville enter this game with almost identical records.

The Pirates are 9-11 overall and 1-1 in district play.

The Wildcats are 8-11 overall and also have a 1-1 record in district play.

Along with the record being similar both teams have won four of their last six games.

Both teams also currently sit outside the top 32, Abbeville at 38 and Kaplan at 44.

A win for either team would go a long way in making a playoff run, down this home stretch of the season.

If the Wildcats are going to make a run they are going to need some big time play from Demond Taylor and Clements Dorsey.

The Pirates also have a couple of guys who need to step up to see the Pirates make the playoffs.

Those players are Jalen Bates, Devantae Davis and Blake Touchet.

If the Pirates can get them rolling they are a hard team to beat.

Before the boys take the court the girls will have concluded for the second time this season.

The last time the Lady Pirates and the Lady Wildcats faced off, Abbeville protected their home court with a 49-28 victory.

Unlike the Pirates and Wildcats, the Lady Pirates and Lady Wildcats are two teams going in the opposite direction.

The Lady Wildcats have won their last four basketball games, all of which have been district battles.

Whereas the Lady Pirates have lost their last three games.

Despite all that, the Lady Pirates are hoping they can defend their home court against the Lady Wildcats.

The girls game is scheduled to start at 6 and the boys game will follow after the conclusion of the girls game.
