VC shuts out Highland Baptist

The Vermilion Catholic Eagles have been playing some good baseball lately, and despite their game on Monday getting rained out the Eagles still showed up on Tuesday night, and didn’t miss a beat.
The Eagles eat their district rival Highland Baptist by the final score of 7-0.
The Eagles jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after the first inning.
It would prove to be enough, but the Eagles would score an insurance run in the bottom of the second and three more in the bottom of the fifth.
This win moves the Eagles record up to 18-9 overall and 7-2 in district play.
The Eagles were led by their pitchers, and mainly Jacob Segrera.
Sagrera pitched five innings, and in that time he only gave up four hits. He also struck out five Highland batters.
Wes Meaux would come in to pitch a perfect six, and he was followed by Hunter Frith who would pitch a perfect seventh inning.
Tyler Derouen led the way for the Eagles at the plate.
Derouen was 3-for-4 with three singles.
He also scored two runs, and drove in one.
Chris Sagrera was 1-for-3 with a two RBI double. He also scored a run in the same inning.
Drake Broussard, Jacob Sagrera and William Noegel all went 1-for-3 with RBI singles.
Broussard would score a run.
The Eagles will be back in action next week as they look to make-up the Gueydan game that was rained out.
