VC, LCA set for round two

Vermilion Catholic is gearing up to take on Lafayette Christian Academy, tonight in Lafayette, for the second time this season.

The biggest concern for Lady Eagles Head Coach Kim Guidry is the lack of practice time due to the winter storms that have hit the area over the last week.

“The problem we have been running into is that we can’t practice,” Guidry said. “If it’s too dangerous to come to school is definitely too dangerous to come to practice. That’s what hurts us, getting out of the rhythm of catching ball and just the little things.
Fortunately for us, our kids are experience and adjust very well.”

There was a bright spot in all the cold weather.

It gave starting point guard Ashaliee Brailey to heal from her ankle injury.

Brailey played a little on Monday, and according to Guidry the extra days off allowed Brailey’s ankle to heal and not miss any game time.

The last time the Lady Eagles played LCA they won by the final score of 39-16, they are looking for a repeat performance.

The Eagles basketball squad is looking to rebound from a tough loss to Hanson on Monday night, as they too will be traveling to Lafayette to take on LCA.

When LCA came to face off against the Eagles earlier this year they left with a 74-41 victory.

The Eagles are hoping to return the favor this time around. For that to happen they are going to need big games from Brennan Gallet and the Campbell brother Mike and Chris.

Feb. 6th is the make-up date for the AES game that was cancelled on Tuesday.
