VC girls drop a close one; EHS and Delcambre boys fall

Despite 32 points from Ashaliee Brailey, the Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles lost 61-58 to Fairview in Wednesday’s St. Thomas More’s Shootout.
Brailey made three 3-pointers.
The Lady Eagles stayed with Fairview throughout the game.
At the end of the first quarter, VC was down 14-13 and by half the Lady Eagles were within reach, down 22-24.
Fairview outscored VC 23-19 in the third period.
Fairview had two players who scored 59 of its 61 points.
Maddisen Martin had 35, while Callie Maddox added 24.

The Lafayette Lions had four players score in double digits to beat the Abbeville Wildcats 88-61 in the Lafayette High tournament on Tuesday.
Corey Davis led the way for Lafayette with 21 points.
The Wildcats kept the game close in the first half, down 37-30. The Lions blew the game open in the third period, outscoring Abbeville, 31-19.
Clyde Mitchell led Abbeville with 18 points. Jaron Hoffpauir (12), Isiah Antoine (12) were Abbeville’s other double digit scorers.
Other scorers for AHS were Jacoby Senegal (2), Kevin Williams (1), Matt Johnson (2), Jourdan Brooks (4), DaMarcus Collins (1), Jahidi White (1) and Clements Dorsey (8).

LAFAYETTE - The Erath Bobcats, playing without their leading scorer Elijah Mitchell, lost to Ascension Episcopal 45-23 in the Raising Cane’s Invitational on Tuesday.
Erath was outscored 29-12 in the first half and never recovered.
Scorers for EHS were: Nick Suire (3), Chene Blanchette (2), Ross Bares (7), Jaylen Sinegal (6), Zack Campos (2) and Baron Rosa (3).

The Hanson Tigers beat the Delcambre Panthers 59-35 in the Ascension Episcopal tournament on Wednesday.
Tyten DeBlanc led DHS with 8 points, while Brayton Trahan had seven and Zach Borel also added seven points.
