VC Eagles and Lady Eagles win district match-ups
Tuesday afternoon was a good day for Vermilion Catholic fans with both the Eagles baseball team and the Lady Eagles softball team winning their district match-ups.

The Eagles used timely hitting and a solid pitching performance by Jacob Sagrera to earn their second straight, and third overall, district win of the season by defeating Highland Baptist 8-3.
Neither team could manage to score a run until the fifth inning.
In the top of the fifth, the Eagles plated three runs. Highland would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fifth.
The Eagles would widen their lead with two runs scored in the top of the sixth and three runs scored in the top of the seventh.
Sagrera pitched five innings and in that time he gave up only two earned runs on four hits. He also struck out six Highland batters.
Connor Menard led the way for the Eagles at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two singles, two runs scored and an RBI.
The Eagles record now stands at 14-6 overall and 3-1 in district play.
The Eagles will face off against North Vermilion tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. at Sellers field.

Kelly White had another solid outing for the Lady Eagles in their 10-0 victory over Ascension Episcopal.
White pitched all five innings, and to go along with not giving up any runs, she only allowed two hits. She also struck out six AES batters.
Katie Frith led the way for the Lady Eagles from the plate by going 2-for-4. She also scored a run and had three RBIs.
Lexi Langlinais also had three RBIs and a run scored, while going 1-for-4 from the plate.
The Lady Eagles record now stands at 8-12 overall and 4-5 in district play.
They will return to action Thursday when they travel to take on Lafayette Christian.
