VC boys fall to Central Catholic 49-28
The Vermilion Catholic boys basketball team suffered their fourth straight loss with a 49-28 defeat at the hands of Central Catholic.
A competitive first half turned into a 21-point game because of the Eagles’ inability to hit shots and the frequency in which they turned the ball over.
“Overall the performance was poor,” said head coach Roch Charpentier. “We shot 27 percent from the floor, we had 16 turnovers which is more than we want and we got outrebounded as well.”
In addition to the low field goal percentage, VC hit only one out of 13 tries from 3-point range.
Devren Constantine led the Eagles with 13 points.
Other scorers were: Chris Campbell (2), Trevian Lane (9) and William Noegel (4).
VC has struggled since starting 5-1 and Charpentier said there are a few reasons why.
“We have to handle the ball better, play faster and we have to take advantage of fast break opportunities,” he said. “Eventually we are going to have to hit some shots from the perimeter. We have to get back to basics on the defensive side and get back to blocking out.”
