Trahan no hits Loreauville, DHS wins 8-0
Lady Panther pitcher Taylor Trahan threw her second no-hitter of the season to lead Delcambre to its eighth straight win with a 8-0 victory over Loreauville Thursday.
Delcambre (11-4, 4-0) did its damage in the second, third and fourth innings to put the game out of reach.
“This is Taylor’s second no-hitter of the season and I am proud of her,” said Delcambre head coach Roderick Morgan. “She is hitting her spots great; She’s having a remarkable season.”
Trahan struckout 15 batters while walking two. Senior Tori Verret led the Lady Panthers at the plate going 2-4 with 3 RBIs.
Holly Deranger, Trahan and Shelby Hebert each earned a RBI and Nicole Bouillion knocked in two runs.
The Lady Panthers were ranked No. 6 in last week’s power rankings and could possibly move up with their recent wins.
Currently ahead of Delcambre in the power ratings are St. Thomas Aquinas, Calvary Baptist, Archbishop Hannan, Riverside Academy and Holy Savior Menard.
Delcambre fell in the quarterfinals last year to Calvary Baptist, who was a No. 2 seed.
Weather has played an integral part in a plethora of teams’ seasons thus far. The team has had four or five games postponed or canceled because of weather conditions.
Morgan said his team was affected by the weather, but have bounced back and hit their stride.
“This has been one of the worst seasons as far as weather goes for as long as I can remember and I have been doing this for 20 years,” he said. “We struggled a little bit earlier in the year, but we have been playing much better lately.”
Delcambre will be in action on the road today at Catholic High of New Iberia.
