Three parish teams in playoff action

Vermilion Parish already has a couple of teams that have already punched their ticket for the second round of the softball State Championship playoff tournament.
Tonight, we will see if the rest of the teams that made the playoffs are going to be heading to the second round.
The Vermilion Catholic Lady Eagles have a bit of a tall task ahead of them.
If they want to make the second round of the playoffs they are going to have to go through district rival Hanson.
“We hoped we could have played someone different,” Lady Eagles Head Coach Kim Guidry said. “We just have to remember that we have nothing to lose. We just need to go out there and play the best we can.”
These two teams have already played twice this year, and both times it didn’t work out well for the Lady Eagles.
The first time they played Hanson, they lost by the final score of 13-1. The second time was a little closer but not much, as Hanson won game two with the score of 16-8.
“I feel like we are a different team,” Guidry said. “We are playing better now than we were the first two times we played them.”
The game against Hanson is scheduled for 5 p.m. tonight at Hanson.
The Delcambre Lady Panthers find themselves on a bit of a hot streak heading into the playoffs.
“I’m excited, and I know the girls are excited about the playoffs,” Delcambre Lady Panthers Head Coach Chad Hayes said. “I wish we could have been a higher seed, but we are in the playoffs and that’s all that matters.
They have won their last three games, and nine of their last 10.
“I feel really good heading into this game.,” Hayes said. “We have been hitting the ball very well the past few games, and that is the one thing that has concerned me all season long. The past few weeks we have been able to get on top of people and stay on top of them, and that’s what you need in the playoffs.
They will play host to Haynes Academy tonight.
“It is going to be nice to be able to stay in our normal routine,” Hayes said. “That’s the thing about being at home. You can stay in your same routine, and you get to have your fans there.”
The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. at Remy Landry Park.
The Erath Lady Bobcats have found their stride entering the last week before the playoffs.
They won four of their last five games heading to earn them the number 24 seed in the Class 3A playoff tournament.
They will take their 24 seed and travel to Lake Charles to take on the number nine seeded St. Louis.
That game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. tonight.
By Wednesday afternoon, we should know if and when these teams will play their second round games, if they are fortunate enough to have a second round game.
