Roy’s title hopes still alive

Kaplan’s very own Tina Roy’s dream of being a National Champion, is still alive.

Roy and her South Carolina Lady Gamecocks team find themselves in the Sweet 16, and will face off against the North Carolina Lady Tar Heels tonight at 6:30.

The Lady Gamecocks in the round of 64 defeated Cal-State Northridge by the final score of 73-58.

In that game, Roy played 22 minutes, and in that time she went 2-of-5 from the floor for five points.

She also had four total rebound, three offensive and one defensive.

To further add to her stat line, she also recorded an assist.

The Lady Gamecocks turned around, and two days later played and beat Oregon State by the final score of 78-69.

Roy found her way on the court for a total of only six minutes.

“Coach told us to plan to be away from school for almost two weeks,” Roy said. “We are planning on making a run at the title. We have a good enough team, and no one is giving us any credit. So that’s just that much more motivation.”

The game can be seen tonight on ESPN 2.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
