Patriots pull off upset, stun Buckeye 24-20

The North Vermilion Patriots did what champions do. Win on the road.
As a No. 27 seed, North Vermilion strolled into Buckeye and left with a 24-20 victory over the No. 6 seed and the Patriots will have a chance to host a second round playoff game.
The Panthers got on the board first with a 13-yard run by Nick Teal to give Buckeye a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.
North Vermilion scored 10 in the second quarter from a 36-yard field goal by Seth Patin, and a 55-yard pass from quarterback Ty Desormeaux to Taylor Abshire.
The Patriots went into halftime with a three-point lead.
That momentum carried into the second have for North Vermilion. They scored first out of the half with a 36-yard pass from Desormeaux to Dade Dieterich to give the underdog Patriots a 17-7 lead.
Two touchdown runs of five and six yards by Teal put Buckeye ahead 20-17, but a 33-yard pass from Desormeaux to Dylan Dent put the Patriots up for good, ending Buckeye’s 9-1 season.
Desormeaux was a marksman at the quarterback position.
He went 16-18 for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
Abshire led the rushing attack for the Patriots with 35 yards rushing on 12 attempts with the receiving touchdown.
Dieterich was the leading receiver with five receptions for 75 yards and a score.
Buckeye gained 183 yards on the ground, with 138 of them coming from Teal.
North Vermilion will be at home next week, looking to keep their season alive against the No. 11 seeded Jennings Bulldogs.
