Patriots prepare for postseason

The North Vermilion Patriots ended their regular season with a 33-31 victory over the Kaplan Pirates.

The game had only taken place on Saturday because both teams had won the honor of being named Co-District 6-3A champions.

The game was held to see who would get the point for power ranking purposes.

With the extra game and the extra win, the Pirates were able to jump their way up to number nine in the power rankings, and effectively ending the Pirates season.

Now, with the regular season behind them, the Patriots can look forward to the playoffs.

They will be hosting the 24th seeded Northwest in the first round of the playoffs.

For the Patriots to make a deep run into the playoffs, they are going to need to continue to play the solid team game they have played all season.

Along with solid team play they are going to need the veterans to step up.

Nick Cooper, Jawuan Windmon and Donald Comeaux are all going to have to step up and play as well if not better than they have all season long.

The Patriots will also need Jordan Windmon to continue to play at level he has been playing at.

As the leader of the team, Windmon has led the Patriots in scoring in all but one of the district games.

The exact date and time of the first round playoff game, by the papers deadline, had not been announced.

We can speculate that it will be played on either Thursday of Friday night.
