Patriot Relays get underway

The 2014 track season is starting to hit the home stretch before the important meets begin.

The Patriots Relays, which get underway this afternoon at 4 p.m., is one of the last three track meets before the Parish meet.

At this point in time a lot of the teams are still trying to put all of the pieces together.

Some coaches like the Lady Wildcats of Abbeville and the Erath Bobcats, are still missing some key contributors.

“We are just trying to put the puzzle together,” Abbeville girls coach Erik Lege said. “We are just trying to make sure we get better and better each and every week.”

So far the Lady Wildcats have been out in front of the pack, as they have won the last two track meets.

On the boys side, things are heating up between the Kaplan Pirates and the Erath Bobcats.

The Pirates won the Snooks Relays and the Bobcats won the Wildcat Relays.

Again, wins at this point in time are good but not necessary.

Every coach will tell you they are working to just get better.

They will have another chance to get ready today as the Patriot Relays get underway at North Vermilion today starting at 4 p.m.
