North Vermilion soccer clips Rapides 4-2
The North Vermilion soccer team battled inclement weather as well as the Rapides Mustangs during their 4-2 comeback victory Wednesday night.
The Patriots chose to start the game off with the 30mph winds whipping against them on offense, and thanks to a goal by Rapides with 10 seconds before the half, North Vermilion trailed 2-1.
With the reversal of field in the second half, North Vermilion scored three unanswered goals to close the game out.
“We decided to start the game against the wind and work hard to hold them back knowing it would be a close game,” said head coach Mark Patin. “We came back in the second half with the advantage of going with the wind for the last 40 minutes, and we just kept pounding the goal.”
Goal scorers for the Patriots were: Cameron Hebert (1), Seth Patin (2) and Andreas Amadour (1).
Assist men were: Conner Patin (2) and Diego Amadour (1).
Coach Patin has been involved with soccer for over four decades, and said that the weather Wednesday was a first for him.
“I’ve been involved with soccer since the 70s,” he said. This was probably the worst factor of wind that I’ve ever seen on a soccer field.”
The win gives the Patriots 10 wins on the year.
North Vermilion will be in action at 11 a.m. Saturday when they host Kaplan.
