North Vermilion hosts district leader Notre Dame
The North Vermilion Patriots put their two-game winning streak on the line when they host the Notre Dame Pioneers Friday at 7 p.m.
North Vermilion (3-5, 2-1) is coming off of a 33-8 win against West St. Mary. The offense was able to have its way with the Wolfpack defense to the tune of 313 total yards.
Quarterback Ty Desormeaux leads the offense, and has thrown for 925 yards and eight touchdowns so far this season.
Taylor Abshire is the main threat in the running game. Abshire has earned 462 yards rushing in seven games this season on 117 attempts.
Desormeaux's two most prominent weapons at receiver are Seth Patin and Dade Dieterich. The dynamic duo has combined for 35 receptions for 441 yards.
Notre Dame (6-2, 3-0) enters the game on a three-game win streak, with their most recent victory a 57-0 rout over Abbeville. In their victories, the Pioneers have outscored their opponents 156-0.
Brad Stoma leads the offense in his third year as a starter. Through last week, Stoma has thrown for 3,361 yards and 32 touchdowns in his career.
Damon Comeaux has been leading the rushing game for the Pioneers in the last month.
In the last four games, he has 430 yards on the ground, inclduing 130 yards against Abbeville last week.
The Patriots are on the bubble of making the state playoffs, currently ranked No. 32 in Class 3A, according to the LHSAA power rankings.
An upset victory over the Pioneers, would give North Vermilion the boost it may need to move up in the rankings and secure a playoff spot.
