North Vermilion girls and boys lose at Midland

In their first game of the Midland Basketball Tournament, the North Vermillion Patriots were defeated 64-55 by the Crowley Gents.
A disappointing fourth quarter performance led to the Patriots suffering their third loss of the young season.
North Vermilion led 14-9 at the end of the first quarter and maintained a three-point advantage at halftime.
In the third quarter, the teams played almost even, and the Patriots went into the fourth quarter with a one-point lead.
In the final period, North Vermilion was outscored by 10 as the game slipped away from them.
Mike Bessard scored 15 points for the Patriots and Jordan Windmon earned 13.
Terrance Lollis scored 10, Dade Dieterich 8 and Blake Turner 7.
The Gents had three players score in double figures with Jacque Price scoring 16, Grant Trahan 15 and Paul Goodley 12.
Crowley’s record improves to 7-6.
North Vermilion’s record drops to 5-3 and the tournament will continue until Saturday.
