Lollis signs with Louisiana College

Terrance Lollis experienced something that few high school football players have had the luxury of experiencing and he came across it and a peculiar way.
The senior linebacker turned 18 years old Thursday and to celebrate, he officially accepted an academic scholarship to attend Louisiana College and continue his football career. Lollis made sure he saved the celebration for his birthday to celebrate with his family and friends at North Vermilion.
Lollis was recognized by Louisiana College because of a reel of highlights posted on the Hudl website by his older brother. The coaches were interested and contacted Lollis to gage his interest.
"One of their (Louisiana College) coaches came by and watched some film on him (Lollis)," said North Vermilion head football coach Richard Prejean. "They met him in the spring of last year. (They) took a look at the film work he had put up, and they liked what they saw."
Lollis earned District 6-3A first team honors in 2014 for season in which he earned 90 total tackles with two forced fumbles and two sacks.
He said he was happy to enjoy his birthday and a new journey in his football career.
"I didn't have a lot of offers, but some teams looked at my workouts," Lollis said. "It was important to me to sign on my 18th birthday. I would do anything to play football."
Getting the opportunity to play football at the college level is something that is rare for a bevy of high school athletes and Prejean said he believes Lollis has the tools to be successful.
“I think he can play at that level,” Prejean said. “Physically he fits the bill for them; he’s a big strong kid who can run. Menatlly he knows the game of football. He’s in line academically.”
