Local Abbeville teams getting set to head to Georgia
The city of Abbeville will have three teams headed to the state of Georgia to play in a baseball tournament.
Head coach Brian Plowden is taking three of his Final Chance teams to Georgia to play baseball and softball.
“This will be the third straight year that we are going to be headed to Georgia,” Plowden said. “I love being able to do this for the kids. I feel that if they are more worried about playing baseball, and they stay excited about the next sporting trip we are going on, then they will be less likely to get involved with the bad things in this world.”
Plowden is doing a good thing for the kids of Abbeville, but he does need a little help.
Final Chance and the team parents will be holding a fund raising dinner to help pay for the trip to Georgia.
The Fundraiser dinner will be held tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support three Abbeville All Star teams going to Georgia this summer.
They will be serving bar-b-que burgers, chips and drinks for only $5.
You can pick up your meal from William Washington Body Shop on 107 Martin Luther King Dr., or on Graceland Rd. at Heberts Park.
Delivery is available for five or more dinners sponsored by Bryan Plowden.
If delivery is needed or any questions call Brian Plowden at 337-356-9858.
