Lady Wildcats look to finish season strong
The Abbeville Lady Wildcats are preparing to face off against the only team to defeat them in district play, the Notre Dame Lady Pios.
The Lady Wildcats during district play are 8-1, and in those eight wins, they have won by an average margin of 19 points.
In the one game against Notre Dame, they lost by 31 points.
The Lady Wildcats are looking to have different outcome this time around.
“It’s a big game,” Lady Wildcats Head Coach Dean Dronet said. “It would be that kind of win you can hang your hat on, but it’s easy to talk about, and very hard to actually do.”
Coach Dronet went on to say that Notre Dame is one of the best teams in the state regardless of class affiliation.
Dronet knows that his team is going to have to be at their best to win in Crowley.
“They are very good, and we are going to have to bring our A game,” Dronet said. “With this game we are going to try to prepare for a win, and also prepare ourselves to make a long run in the playoffs. This game could be big in helping us do that.”
If the Lady Wildcats are going to succeed they are going to rely on the starting five they have had for most of the season; guards Arryaia Starlard and Christina Hackshaw, forwards Bianca Levy and Barbara Bryant and center Jacqueline Braxton.
