Lady Eagles, Lady Bobcats seasons come to an end
The VC Lady Eagles were the 22 seed heading into the first round of the playoffs.
Their first round opponent was district rival Hanson, who had already beaten them twice this season, and now Hanson is 3-0 against the Lady Eagles.
Hanson defeated VC by the final score of 14-3.
“We knew it would be hard to travel there and win,” Vermilion Catholic head coach Kim Guidry said. “Our kids never gave up though, and that is what’s important.
“It is sad that this is the seniors last game, but you just thank them for all of the hard work they have put in over the past four years. You tell them that once they are a Lady Eagle they are always a Lady Eagles, and you hope that you as a coach were able to teach them something more important than just winning and losing.”
As for the game itself, Zanesia Bernard was a bright spot for the Lady Eagles.
Bernard was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run. Lexi Langlinais was one base at the time of the home run.
Leah Campbell and Katie Frith were both 1-for 3 as well.
Frith drove in Ellen Langlinais for her lone RBI of the game.
The Erath Lady Bobcats season also ended on Tuesday night.
They were the 24th seed in the Class 3A playoff bracket, and had to travel to play St. Louis the ninth seed, in Lake Charles.
Despite winning three of their last five games the Lady Bobcats were able to win and St. Louis walked away with the 9-3 victory over the Lady Bobcats.
