Lady Bobcats win first district match-up

ERATH- The Erath Lady Bobcats hosted the Abbeville Lady Wildcats on Tuesday night, and even though they didn’t get the lead until the bottom of the sixth inning, the Lady Bobcats walked away with the 4-1 victory.

“We were a little sluggish early on, but I think we finally woke up late,” Erath Lady Bobcats Head Coach Lance Beal said. “Coach Ivy (Landry) has done a great job with that (Abbeville) program. It took us a bit to get started but once we did we played well.
Bailey Strothers pitched one heck of a game.”

Strothers got the win for the Lady Bobcats by pitching all seven innings and only allowing one run on seven hits.

She also managed to strike out six Lady Wildcats.

“It feels pretty good,” Strothers said. “I felt that I might be a little rusty, but once I got out there I felt comfortable and just got into my rhythm early.”

The sixth inning is where the game was won for the Lady Bobcats. It was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth when Jasmine Lejeune hit a sac fly to right to score Kylia Benoit.

Haley Campbell would score on a throwing error during the same play.
