Kaplan finishes 2-1 in own tournament
The Kaplan Lady Pirates brought a 2-0 record into the start of their own tournament on Friday.
They moved that record up to 3-0 with a 12-2 victory over Catholic N.I. on Friday.
They then turned right around and beat Berwick 12-6, on Saturday.
In the game against Berwick, Lindsey Schexnailder pitched a solid seven innings, and in those seven innings allowed six runs on 14 hits.
Schexnailder also managed to strike out five Berwick batters.
The Lady Pirates would then face off against the Delcambre Lady Panthers on Sunday, and that’s when the winning streak came to an end.
The Lady Panthers were able to beat the Lady Pirates by the final score of 6-5.
Abby Trahan of Kaplan and Taylor Trahan of Delcambre, both pitched all seven innings for their respective teams.
Abby Trahan was able to strike out 14 Lady Panthers in the loss.
Taylor Trahan struck out seven Lady Pirates on her way to a victory.
Tori Verret and Taylor Trahan were responsible for four of the six RBI’s in the game.
Kailey Lejeune had two RBI’s for the Lady Pirates.
The Lady Pirates are back in action tomorrow as they travel to take on Dutchtown.
The Lady Panthers will return to the field on Thursday when they take part in the Erath Tournament.
