Honey Bears lose in final minutes
The Gueydan Honey Bears team came to an end on Thursday night against Southern Lab by the final score of 34-24.
According to head coach Randall Bertrand the Honey Bears had their chances, and were even only down three points with two minutes remaining in the game.
Unfortunately, the Honey Bears were not able to overcome that three point deficit and fell into an even deeper hole and lost by ten.
The Honey Bears were trailing all game long, and could never seem to make enough plays to overcome the deficits.
Ashari Terry and Kylie Crochet led the way for the Honey Bears in scoring, as they both scored seven points apiece.
T’nia Leger was able to aid the Honey Bears by adding four points of her own.
Nya Boudreaux, Ke’ara Charles and Sheridan Guidry all added two points to round out the scoring for the Honey Bears.
Despite the loss, the Honey Bears can be proud of their season.
It was the second season in a row they were able to have winning record and make the playoffs.
Along with all of that, Gueydan girls basketball has a bright future ahead of them.
The Honey Bears have no seniors in the starting lineup.
Two of the starting five are freshmen and one is an eight grader.
So everyone from the starting five this year will return.
Coach Bertrand knows that despite the loss this was a great game for his Honey Bears.
“We got a lot of great experience,” Bertrand said.
