Eagles lose in bottom of seventh to Central Catholic
The Vermilion Catholic Eagles traveled to Morgan City on Wednesday night, and victory was snatched from their hands in the bottom of the ninth when Central Catholic scored two runs to win 4-3.
The game was a pitchers dual up until the bottom of the fifth inning when Central Catholic scored one run to go up 1-0.
The game turned into a back-and-forth game.
The Eagles would answer with a run of their own in the top of the sixth.
Central Catholic would then take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth.
VC would then turn around and score two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 3-2 lead.
Central Catholic would go on to score two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to win 4-3.
Hunter Frith pitched a solid six innings and only gave up two runs on seven hits. He also struck out six batters.
Drake Broussard came in for the save in the bottom of the seventh, and allowed the game winning two unearned runs, with only one out remaining in the game.
The Eagles will return to action Saturday as they will play host to the Gueydan Bears.
First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
