Abbeville High in need of old bowling shoes

Travis Werner, the Abbeville High power-lifting coach, is asking for old bowling shoes to be donated to the AHS and J.H. Williams Middle School power lifting teams.
Werner said the old bowling shoes would be converted to weight lifting shoes by replacing the old rubber heels in the shoe with higher wooden heals.
Werner said the shoes would be used for squatting.
He explained that to purchase a pair of specialized squat shoes can cost around $200.
“I can turn a pair of used bowling shoes into the same thing for $15. We need all sizes, including youth sizes.”
Between the middle school and the high school, there are 60 athletes who need shoes.
If anyone has an old pair of bowling shoes, they can drop them off at Abbeville High during school or you can call Werner at 349-2006.
