Abbeville High head football coach resigns
Abbeville High head football coach Chris Towery informed Abbeville High Principal Ivy Landry Monday that he is quitting Abbeville High School.
Towery has only been the head coach at AHS for two years. In that time, he posted a 1-19 record.
Landry said the head coaching position will open up Wednesday and will remain open for a week.
Towery accepted an assistant coaching position at Spring Westfield High School in Houston. Westfield is a Class 6-A school.
He is no stranger to living in Houston. In the 1990s he was an assistant coach at the University of Houston.
Towery told his players Monday night and is expected to remain on campus for another week.
