Abbeville girls cruise past Lady Bobcats of Erath

The Abbeville Lady Wildcats went on a 14-4 run in the third period and cruised to a 45-29 victory over the Lady Bobcats of Erath on Friday.
With the victory, the Lady Wildcats stay in the hunt for the District 6-3A title. The win puts Abbeville at 7-1 in district and 16-12 overall. In first place in district is Notre Dame at 22-4 and 8-0 in district.
Erath falls to 12-11 and 4-3 in district.
The game was tied 15-15 at the 3:40 mark in the third period.
Abbeville, playing with only six players, blew it open with the combination of an inside and outside game.
Bianca Levy for Abbeville made 5 straight points, and Christian Hackshaw canned a three-pointer to put Abbeville ahead 25-16 with two minutes to play in the third quarter.
In the second half, Abbeville had success at the free throw line.
As a team, Abbeville made 20 out of 31 in the entire game. In the second half, they were 15 out of 21 at the charity stripe.
Abbeville’s Arrayia Starland hit three out four free throws in the final two minutes to secure the win.
Starland and Hackshaw each finished with 12 points. Hackshaw and Barbara Bryant both scored eight points for Abbeville. Jacqueline Braxton chipped in five.
Gabby Harrington paced EHS with 13. Ashley Dubois and Alexis Harrington both had four. Alexa Faulk scored six points, including two 3-pointers.
Jasmine LeJeune added two for EHS.
Abbeville outscored EHS 32-17 in the second half.

Abbeville High’s shooters made four 3-pointers in the final five minutes of the game, en route to a 54-31 victory over Erath High on Friday.
Abbeville improves to 9-14 overall and 2-4 in district. Erath falls to 7-14 and 0-5 in district.
Abbeville’s Travail Briggs began the bombing attack with his first 3-pointer of the game at the 5:33 mark in the fourth. Triston Green got into the act and he made back-to-back three-pointers to put Abbeville up 45-27. Green finished with six points.
Briggs canned his second three pointer with two minutes to play in the game.
Leading AHS in points was Clemens Dorsey with 17 points. He was 7 out of 9 at the free throw line.
Jordan Brooks had 11 and five rebounds, Kevin Williams made seven. Matthew Johnson added four. Luis Flores and DeMarcus Collins both had one for AHS.
For EHS, Aaron Greene, Elijah Mitchell and Ross Bares each had six points.
Jeremiah Mitchell and Alec Toups both had four, while Jalen Sinegal had two points for EHS
