Louisiana’s First Lady visits local school

Seventh Ward Elementary was visited by one of Louisiana's finest….Mrs. Supriya Jindal. The Supriya Jindal Foundation invests in hands-on tools for classrooms. The "School Surprise" program provides pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms with center-related tools to aid in the education of our state's young students. With the help of Louisiana Healthcare Connections, Mrs. Stacey Gabor, Mrs. Michelle Love, Mrs. Marilyn Cabrol, and Mrs. Terry Leblanc's classrooms were selected for the "School Surprise Program". These teachers selected hands-on enrichment tools to further aid in their students' mastery of core subjects
Mrs. Jindal spent much of her time working in centers with the students at Seventh Ward Elementary. She worked on graphing, charting, sorting, adding and writing. She then read a story titled "Corduroy" to the students, which she stated is one of her children's favorite books. She also handed out Governor Bobby Jindal's favorite pencil to students, as well as a coloring book and a picture of our Governor. The library received a signed copy of a story book about "Louisiana's Governor's Mansion: Our Treasured Home", and other special books were given to the classroom teachers.
