ROBERT POTIER
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at Vincent Funeral Home in Gueydan for Robert Potier, 93, who died Wednesday, September 24, at American Legion Hospital.
He was buried in Gueydan Cemetery with Reverend Mitchell Guidry officiating the services.
Mr. Potier was a lifelong resident of Gueydan. He was a rice farmer for over 40 years. He served our country during World War II as a mechanic in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the LeJeune Boudreaux American Legion Post 271. Mr. Potier was a resident of the Gueydan Memorial Guest Home.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Willa Mae “Mamie” Nunez Potier of Gueydan; one son, Lester Potier and his wife, Jeanie, of Gueydan; four daughters, Donna Mae Potier, Helen and her husband, Larry Gaspard, Gloria Taber, and Cecile and her husband, Tommy LeJeune, all of Gueydan; one sister, Mary P. Broussard of Gueydan; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and eight step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Robert Potier Jr.; one daughter, Arlene Potier; and one son-in-law, Richard Taber.
Visiting hours were observed at Vincent Funeral Home in Gueydan, at 311 Fourth Street, on Thursday, September 25, 2008 from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. with a rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Friday, September 26, from 8 a.m. until time of services
