Recycling Information for Vermilion Parish: Dropoff centers established throughout parish
The Vermilion Parish Police Jury Solid Waste Recycling Program has offered the following advice and instructions on recycling in Vermilion Parish.
Materials Accepted:
Paper: Newspaper and inserts; magazines, catalogs, office paper, manila folders, file folders, paper bags, boxboard - cereal boxes, shoe boxes, phone books, greeting cards, envelopes, shredded paper.
Cans - Please rinse first! Aluminum: soda and beer cans; Steel and Tin: vegetable, soup, tuna cans, etc.; Empty aerosol cans.
Glass - Please rinse first! Glass bottles and jars (please take the lids off and throw the lids in the regular garbage.)
Plastic bottles - Please rinse first! #1 - #7; water, juice, soda, milk, shampoo, soap, etc. *Bottles only, no plastic containers, bags or trays. Please take caps off first.
Corrugated cardboard: No pizza or soiled food boxes.
Tires: *Can be recycled at the landfill only. Regulations for tires: 5 tires per day per resident with their driver’s license is required. Tires still on the rims are accepted.
White Goods - Appliances: *Appliances are recycled at the landfill only. Examples: washers, dryers, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, stoves, hot water heaters.

Police Jury Owned Facilities - Hours of operation: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.:
Mondays: Erath - Max Switch Road
Tuesdays: Abbeville - Junius Road and Calvin LeBoeuf Road
Wednesdays: Gueydan - Hwy 14
Thursdays: Kaplan - Gladu Road
Fridays: Abbeville - Public Works Complex
Vermilion Parish Solid Waste Facility (Landfill off of Hwy 696): Open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Participating Schools:
Dumped Wednesdays after 10 a.m. *Allowing only students, teachers and parents of the students at the school to use the dumpster.

*Rene Rost 1-4 yd
*Abbeville High 2-2yd
*Erath Middle School 2-96 gallon cans emptied at Police Jury Barn in Erath
*Jesse Owens - Gueydan 1-4 yd
