Powell golfing winners honored

Siblings Nicholas, Hannah, Jameson and Clara Powell participated in the 2008 U.S. Kids Golf State Tour Championship on July 22 at Beaver Creek Golf Course in Baton Rouge.

Nicholas participated in the 11 year old+ division. After playing 18 holes from 5600 yards, he ended in a tie with a score of 79 with 11 year old Peter Mata. The two competed in a two-hole playoff, with Nicholas winning the playoff.

Nine year old Hannah finished second in the tour championship for her age group defeating Louisiana’s 2008 player of the year, Mary Francis Chauvin, with a score on 9 holes of 41.

Jameson, age 7, finished third in his age group with a 46 on 9 holes.

Clara, age 5, received a good sportsmanship award for the tournament.
