Theodore James “Ted” Guidry

GUEYDAN — It is with great sadness that the family of Theodore James “Ted” Guidry, 80, announced his passing from this life on April 10, 2014 at 11:15 p.m. with his wife, Hazel, by his side at Crowley American Legion Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
It was Ted’s final wish to have his full body donated to science and medical research at the LSU Anatomical Bureau in hopes that his donation will help in the advancement of medicine and continue to help others.
Ted was born in Gueydan to the late Lionel Guidry and Elda Richard Guidry on January 7, 1934. Ted was a caring, loving, patient, gentle, kind hearted, quiet man who was full of wisdom. He enjoyed listening to classical music and relaxing outdoors. He had a love for nature and spending time working alongside his wife in their perfectly manicured yard.
Ted dedicated himself to his work at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou for 30 years until he recently fell ill.
Ted is survived by his wife of 60 years Hazel A. Guidry; his four children, Wendell Guidry and his wife Debra of Crowley, Michael Guidry and his wife Jody of Denham Springs, Jetty Guidry LeMaire and her husband Donald of Gueydan and Kimberly Guidry of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Jimmy Guidry and his wife Dawn of Crowley, Neal Guidry of Crowley, Micheal Guidry, Jr. and his wife Jayne of Denham Springs, Mandy Guidry and her husband Steve of Denham Springs, Brittany LeMaire Broussard of Gueydan, Marty Broussard of Gueydan, Brynn LeMaire Perrin and her husband Cy of Gueydan and Donald “Bubba” LeMaire, Jr. of Gueydan; 14 great grandchildren and one more on the way; one brother Ronnie Guidry of Morse and two sisters Jeanette LeJeune of Gueydan and Jane Foegelle of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lionel and Elda Richard Guidry; his brothers L.A. Guidry, Roy Guidry, Richard Guidry and sister Diana Hebert.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to The University of Texas M.D Anderson Cancer Center at gifts.mdanderson.org.
