Sister Pearly Mae Sonnier Soelv

GUEYDAN — Sister Pearly Mae Sonnier Soelv was born on December 31, 1952 to the late Otis and Elnora (Hill) Sonnier in Gueydan, LA. On January 21, 2015 at 12:50 a.m., peacefully and surrounded by the love of her family, Pearly passed away at our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Pearly was a devoted Christian, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and cousin, and a wonderful friend. Pearly became a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church at a young age, which was the beginning of her Christian journey.
Pearly lived a life that demonstrated uncanny strength and compassion. Working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for 30+ years, Pearly had a passion for caring for others. Family was at the center of Pearly’s universe and she loved spending time with her loved ones. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, going to the casino, and cooking. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
To carry on her legacy, Pearly leaves one son Courtney Soelv and his wife Porsche of Leesville, LA; three daughters, Angelique Soelv of Abbeville, LA, Kristy Soelv of Minneapolis, MN, Ashley Soelv of Minneapolis, MN; five grandchildren, Ja’Darrain, Ja’Vonte, Ja’Queisha, Ja’Learreia all of Abbeville, LA and Tiana Davis of Temple, TX; dear friends Delia Levine and Hatti Coleman; a daughter she called her own Reshirl Harvey; 6 nieces, 5 nephews, 3 God children, 9 great-nieces, 7 great-nephews, 4 great-great nieces, 7 great-great nephews, and a host of family and friends.
Pearly was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Elnora; son, Clinton Sonnier; sisters, Jeanette Sonnier-Maxile and Elnora Sonnier-Guilbeaux; ex-husband, Ramon Soelv; aunts, Louella Porter-Montgomery, Mable Williams, Virginia Hill, Mercedee Sonnier, and Carnileus Cooper; uncles, Olivier Sonnier, Clyde Williams, Joseph, Floyd, and Warren Hill, and Alton Montgomery; nephew, Gregory Maxile; and brother-in law Robert Guilbeaux.
