Robert Anthony “Lil Plut” Saunier
DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Robert Anthony “Lil Plut” Saunier, age 54, at 11:00 am Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Nathan Comeaux will be the celebrant. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of Delcambre on Friday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visiting will resume on Saturday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Robert was born June 7, 1961 in Erath to Marylynn Cessac Saunier and the late Donald Thomas Saunier, and passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Robert, known by family and friends as Lil Plut, worked in the oilfield for over 36 years, most recently as a Liftboat Captain with Seacor Marine. When not offshore, Plut enjoyed woodworking, camping, traveling (especially going to the beach) and cooking and sharing a meal with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his son, Beau Anthony Saunier and girlfriend Melissa Heinitz of Delcambre, his mother, Marylynn Cessac Saunier of Delcambre; his siblings, Thomas Saunier of Delcambre, Donna Lancon and husband Christian of Delcambre, Henry Saunier of Coteau, Leonard Saunier and wife Neely of Delcambre, Paul Saunier of Seguin, TX, and Laura Satchez and husband Bryan “Satch” of Delcambre; and his former wife and friend, Tara Saunier.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dawn Saunier; and grandparents, Henry and Gussie Cessac and Lenas and Noela Saunier.
Serving as pallbearers are Beau, Thomas, Paul, Leonard and Josh Saunier, and Christian Lancon. Honorary pallbearers are “Satch” Satchez, Tony Killingworth, Ross Jordan, Larry Warren, Chris Barre, Joe Naquin, Justine Rodkey, Henry Sandidge, Marcus Richmond and Wyatt Drury.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff of Hospice of Acadiana and to Markell Ayo (his Nurse Practitioner) for the care and compassion shown.
