Rae M. Patout

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Rae M. Patout, 89, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at Eastridge Nursing Home in Abbeville.
Interment will be in Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette.
Reverend Kevin Bordelon, Associate Pastor of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, Louisiana will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Concelebrant will be Reverend William Blanda, Pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. The lector will be Vickie Patout. Stephanie Hoffpauir, soloist accompanied by Thomas Niel, organist, will sing “Here I Am Lord”, “On Eagles’ Wings”, “Be Not Afraid”, and “Ave Maria” for the services.
Left to cherish her memories include her two daughters, Mary Patout LaCour and Barbara Patout Landry; five sons, Charles A. Patout, Jr., M.D., David J. Patout of Baton Rouge, Raymond P. Patout, Paul D. Patout, and Patrick O. Patout; daughter-in-laws, Peggy Patout, Stella Patout, Sharron Patout, Kim Patout, and Vickie Patout; twenty five grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Arthur Patout, Sr.; parents, John Raymond and Carrie Elizabeth McCrary Meng; her daughter, Jeanne Anne Patout; great grandchildren, Sophia and Charlotte Bourque; her sister, Sister of Divine Providence Raymond Meng; and her brother, Louis Meng.
Rae M. Patout was a dedicated parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a member of sewing clubs, hosted card and coffee parties, loved to shop, and travel the world. She was very involved with her family and faith. Mrs. Patout was very active in the Reading Research Institute of Acadiana which focused on helping dyslexic children. She enjoyed watching her boys play football. After the passing of her daughter, Mrs. Patout became involved as a counselor with the Compassionate Friends. She loved to dance and could often be found hiding out with a burger and diet coke reading her favorite book. Rae M. Patout was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, and friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Pallbearers will be Charles A. Patout, Jr., M.D., David J. Patout, Raymond P. Patout, Paul D. Patout, Patrick O. Patout, and Charles A. Patout, III.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa, her devoted caregiver and companion.
The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille’s DOWNTOWN location on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service.
A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 PM by Reverend Kevin Bordelon in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
