Mellie Dronet Robichaux

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mellie Dronet Robichaux, age 75, at 10:30 am Monday, April 11, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. The Rosary was prayed before the mass at 10:00 am and will be held at St. Peter’s also. Fr. Nicholas DuPre’ was the celebrant. Mrs. Robichaux was laid to rest at Holy Family Mausoleum.
In keeping with Mrs. Robichaux’s wishes, there were no visiting hours prior to her Mass.
Mellie was born October 27, 1940 in Delcambre to the late Joseph P. Dronet and the late Olite Vincent Dronet, and passed away peacefully April 8, 2016 at Consolata Home with her family at her side.
Mrs. Robichaux worked for many years as a secretary with Abdalla’s and with the Port Commission, both jobs that she enjoyed very much. Some of her pastimes were bowling, of which she belonged to a league her in New Iberia, reading books, and watching her beloved Atlanta Braves.
Most will remember Mrs. Mellie for her devout faith to her church and the Blessed Mother. During her lifetime, she was able to make pilgrimages to the Shrines of Fatima, Lourdes and Guadalupe. She also enjoyed watching the many programs on the Catholic network of EWTN. She leaves behind many fond memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband, marnell James Robichaux of New Iberia; her son, Craig James Robichaux of New Iberia; her brothers, Rudy Dronet and wife Mary of Erath, and Benny Dronet and wife Catherine of Delcambre; and her nieces and nephews, Amy Trangmar, Mark Dronet, Dean Dronet and Kala Bridges.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Consolata Nursing Home and to the staff of Bridgeway Hospice for the care and compassion shown.
