Loree J. Bertrand

ERATH — Loree J. Bertrand, who was born on June 18, 1928, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2016, at the age of 87.
Bert, as he was fondly called, served his country in the Merchant Marines and fought in the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Bertrand’s Auto Shop in Erath for many years until his retirement. He was also co-owner of Bert’s Lounge in Erath until its closing.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter, Susan and her husband Francis Mott of Erath; son, Loree “Johnny” Bertrand Jr. and his wife Myrna of Youngsville; daughter Christine Bertrand Laporte of Abbeville; grandchildren, Michelle Mott, Tamara Haskins, Jared Bertrand, Loren Poirrier, Dustin Bertrand and Shay Laporte.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edier Bertrand and the former Lorena Hartman; his sister, Nellie B. Landry; a grandson, Joseph “Joey” Mott; and his aunt, Agnes Hartman Bernard, who raised him and his sister after the death of his parents.
At Loree’s request, his body was donated to LSU Bureau of Anatomical Services in New Orleans.
