ABBEVILLE – Funeral services for Leonard “Poppa Stoppa” Brailey, Jr. has been scheduled for 1:00 P. M. Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Faith Hope Baptist Church – 407 Duroq Street in Abbeville, LA. Minister Albert Shelvin will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Faith Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Gross Isle.
Leonard “Poppa Stoppa” Brailey (69), a long time resident of Abbeville passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Vermilion Health Care Center in Nunez after enduring a lengthy illness.
He leaves to mourn his passing six daughters, Faye Hebert (Jared), Karen Levine, Elonda Levine, Doris Plowden, Rebecca Pillette, and Florida Pillette all of Abbeville, LA; six sons, Kevin Pillette (Ebony), Leonard Pillette (Myticia), Louis Pillette, Edward Pillette (Linda), Arthur Pillette, and Eunice Pillette (Ja’nean) all of Abbeville, LA; six Godchildren, Patrick Green, Annie Mae Polk, Joseph Allen, Jr., Tammy Darby, Ronell Brailey, and Shahera Moore of Abbeville, LA; three sisters, Lutha Mae Allen (Joseph, Sr.), Dorothy Porter (Silas), and Lovenia Walker; three aunts, Gladys Levine of Dallas, TX; Thelma Levine of Jennings, LA; and Anna Washington of Abbeville, LA; seventy eight Grandchildren, 40 Great-Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Myrtis Plowden Brailey; grandparents, Kane Brailey and Amelia Campbell; two sisters, Barbara Brailey and Bertha Brailey; three children, Bridgette, Tonie, and Danny Pillette; maternal Grandparents, William and Victoria Plowden.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Faith Hope Baptist Church from 8:00 A.M. until time of service.
