Joseph Clarence Broussard

November 25, 1926 ~ December 18, 2015

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at a 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph (Clarence) Broussard Sr., who passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the age of 89.
He will be laid to rest at Leroy Community Cemetery with Father David Hebert officiating the services.
Pallbearers will be Bryan Broussard, Nicholas Broussard, Kenny Broussard, Kyle Broussard, Kerry Kass and K.C. Kass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Romero, Vernice Leger, Ryan Frederick and Steve Schexnaider. Readers will be Tiffany Broussard and Paula Kass with Leah Schexnaider and Michelle LeMaire as giftbearers.
Clarence was a well known painter and sheet rock finisher and wall paper hanger of 46 years who painted most of Abbeville homes and landmarks.
He was an avid gardener harvesting many vegatables with plenty to share with family and friends. He had many friends that he enjoyed playing bourre’ with once a week You could find “Tatoot” as he was affectionately called by his grandchildren and great grandchildren often working at his catfish pond or tending to his sheep and yard with his dog Bruce by his side.
He is survived by his loving wife Zula B. Broussard of 68 years; son, Joseph (Joey) Broussard and his wife Peggy; daughter, Maria Broussard Schexnaider and her husband Steve; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Ellen Marie Broussard; his parents, Clobule and Erita (Landry) Broussard; brothers, Caesar and Nolton Broussard; sisters, Gurcey B. Landry and Effie B. Vincent, and special brother-in-law, Thear Vincent.
His exuberance for family, animals, work and life with that twinkle in his eyes and little boy grin made him instantly likeable. Clarence will always be remembered as someone who genuinely cared for family and friends and wished for their well-being and happiness. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kerry Schexnaider’s compassionate care and the staff of St. Joseph Palliative Home Health, especially nurses Kathleen Guidry and Shavanda Polite. Donations can be made to St. Joseph Palliative Home Health.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 1:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. and Monday, December 21, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
