Joseph Charles “Jake” Connor

Joseph Charles “Jake” Connor, 80, lost his battle with cancer and died at his home on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.
He was born March 10, 1933 in Abbeville, La. to Edward “Cap” and Lodiana (Romero) Connor. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. A locksmith by trade, he owned his own business in Houston, Tx. for 30 years.
He married Cleda Gordon March 29, 1955 and the union was blessed with 2 children. That marriage ended in divorice in 1968.
On February 8, 1969 he married Jacqueline Grandt in St. Peter, Il. And they were celebrating their 45th anniversary on the day he died.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, of Holly Lake Ranch, Tx., son Bryan Connor of Edina, Mn. , daughter Lisa Reynolds of Prescott, Az. 6 grandchildren, Amber and Brianna Connor of Minneapolis, Mn., Christopher (Bri) Reynolds, Sarah (Michael) Cook, Karah Reynolds of Prescott, Az., and Ryan Reynolds of Oxnard, Ca. along with 6 great grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Gloria Faye (Donald) Broussard and Brother-in-law, Roger (Anna) Grandt of Tyrone, Ga. along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jake was an avid fisherman, loved to dance, read western novels, and tell jokes. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church at Holly Lake Ranch and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus council 15174. He never met a stranger and will be missed by many.
As he wished, his body was donated for research to The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, TX.
A Memorial service is to be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1612 S. FM 2869, Holly Lake Ranch, Tx. 75765 at 11am on Friday, February 14, 2014.
If desired memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of East Texas, or his Church.
