ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Therese of the Child Jesus Church honoring the life of John Huntsberry, 97, who died Friday, October 23, 2015 at Abbeville General Hospital.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Rev. Gregory Cormier officiating the services.
He is survived by his son, Oris Huntsberry and wife Denise of Kaplan; two daughters, Mary Louise Landry and husband Eddie, Jr. and Dolores Celestine and husband Clarence of Erath; one sister, Hazel Broussard of Abbeville; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eraste Huntsberry and the former Leona Ricco; three brothers, Leon Huntsberry, Ned Huntsberry, and Rainey Huntsberry; three sisters, Agnes Willims, Rosenell Mouton, and Laura Petry; daughter-in-law, Alice Huntsberry, and two grandchildren, Malcolm Huntsberry and Antoinette Landry, and the mother of his children, Eula Meaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, October 30, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for church.
