James Robert Wall
GUEYDAN — Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all.
James Robert “Jimmy” Wall, a native of Baton Rouge, LA, and a resident of Gueydan, LA., was born to Ben R. Wall and the former Dorothy Mae Bourgeois, on June 16, 1951.
Jimmy graduated from Istrouma High School class of 1969. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Korea and in the Viet Nam War with the rank of Sgt. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW and the Vietnam Veterans of America. He loved his country, his family and his GOD. Jimmy retired with Freeport Sulphur as a First Class Foreman with 26 years of service.
He then worked with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy. He was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Gueydan, LA. He married the love of his life, Ora Mae Bourque on March 31st, 1973, in Gueydan at the First Baptist Church.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Ora Mae Bourque Wall, daughter Mary Elizabeth Wall Mouton, son and daughter in law Benjamin Thomas Wall and Courtney Leigh LeJeune Wall, son and daughter in law Sidney Ira Wall and Jenee LeBlanc Wall, Nephew but adopted son, Michael Wade Bourque and his wife Nicole Bourque, grandchildren Cecilia Grace Wall, Ava Rose Wall, John Thomas Wall, Madison Matte and Londyn Kate Wall. Sisters Deborah Lynn Beaver and husband Ron and Donna Dean Prest and husband Byron. Brother in law Arlon Glenn Bourque and sisters in law Mary Dean Bourque and Becki Bourque. His “second mother” Bea Causey. Jimmy also leaves numerous nieces and nephews and adopted Sister Barbara Nell Lee McCaig.
Jimmy was proceeded in death by his parents, father and mother in law Sidney and Dorothy Fisher Bourque, brothers in law, Orin Kenneth Bourque and John Paul Bourque.
Funeral services to honor Jimmy’s life were held at the First Baptist Church in Gueydan, LA on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Troy Duhon officiating.
Burial followed in Gueydan Cemetery with full military rights. Visitation was held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home in Gueydan on Sunday, November 1st from 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM with a Fallen Warriors Ceremony at 6:00 PM and resume on Monday at 9:00 AM until the time of his funeral service.
