Irby G. Roy, Sr.

ABBEVILLE – Funeral Services for Mr. Irby G. Roy, Sr., 78, will be held at 2:-00PM on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at David Funeral Chapel of Abbeville with Pastor Jason Duhon officiating.  Interment will be at a later date.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Abbeville on Saturday, January 9, 2015 from 10:00AM until the time of the services.
A native Leroy and a resident of Abbeville Mr. Irby proudly served his country for 12 years in the US Navy during the Vietnam War.  He was a Native American and belonged to the Avogel Tribe.  He enjoyed reading, fishing, and gospel music. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Veronica LeBouef Roy of Abbeville; four sons, Perry Valliant, Sr. of Houma, Shane Roy, Sr. and wife Donna of Abbeville, Irby G. Roy, Jr. and wife Candice  of Mouton Cove, and Michael Roy and wife Kelly of Traverse City, MI; three daughters, Vanessa Hebert of Abbeville, Stephanie Adlard of Chatagnier, and Jackie and husband Robert “Boo” Savoy of Henry; three sisters, Janette Jesenski of Abbeville, Janis Stine of Abbeville, and LeeAnna Hebert of Abbeville; thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edes and Mathilda Luquette Roy; and a brother, Donald Roy.
Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Robert Savoy, Jr.
In lieu of flower the family request donations are made to your organizing of choice.  
The family would like the give special thanks to Lamm Family Care Hospice for all their care and respect and kindness to Mr. Irby.
