Helen LeBouef Broussard

August 17, 1/926 ~ December 17, 2015

KAPLAN — Funeral services will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church honoring the life of Helen LeBouef Broussard, 89, who was called home to her heavenly Father on December 17, 2015. She will be laid to rest at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Leroy, LA.
Helen was the third of five children born to Corbett LeBouef and the former Relia Frederick on August 17, 1926. Helen grew up in Abbeville. She attended Southwest Louisiana Institute (currently ULL) and received a degree in elementary education. She married the love of her life, the late Dennis J. Broussard, on April 5, 1947. Helen taught one year in Kaplan before she and Dennis moved to Sulphur, LA in 1948. She taught first grade for 19 years, kindergarten for one year, and retired from teaching in 1972. One of the greatest things that can be said about Helen is that she loved. She loved God, her husband, her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends. Some of her greatest qualities were her patience, understanding, and wisdom. There was always a grace and peace about her. Helen’s service to others was by taking the Holy Eucharist to anyone homebound or hospitalized. She was also a lector at mass and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She believed in the power of prayer, praying the rosary, and saying novenas. She often prayed for others, especially if she woke up at night thinking about someone, she would pray for that person. Helen enjoyed being involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren – Bluebird Mother, baking cakes for fundraisers, attending Grandparents Day, and football games. She found that working in her yard and flower beds to be therapeutic. She also loved playing cards in the evening with her husband throughout their years together.
She is survived by her three adoring daughters, Beverly and her husband, Ray Conner of Welsh, Diane and her husband, Ricky Venable of Church Point, and Annette and her husband, Timothy Savoy of Moss Bluff; one loving son, James Broussard of Davenport, FL; eight precious grandchildren, Rhonda Conner Guidry, Leanna Conner Trahan, Bradley Conner, Eric Conner, Anna-Lee Conner, Katie Venable Angelle, Michael Venable, and Jaala Savoy; nine wonderful great grandchildren, Taylor, Torrie, Tessa, Gabriel, Kaydence, Reese, Jules, Remy, and expecting Holden in January; one sister, Hazel Mouton of Abbeville; and one brother, Dr. Corbett LeBouef, Jr. of Abbeville.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 6 p.m.; Monday, December 21, 2015 from 8 a.m. until services.
