Gertie Miguez Broussard

DELCAMBRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Gertie Miguez Broussard, age 85, at 3:00 pm Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Nathan Comeaux officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm on Tuesday until Noon on Wednesday at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume at 12:30 on Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church until the time of the service.
A native of Abbeville and resident of Delcambre, Mrs. Gertie passed away at 3:30 pm on, Monday, August 31, 2015 at Iberia Extended Care.
Gertie loved her Friday and Sunday games of Bouree’ and trips to the casino. Her home, heart and ears were always open to her family and friends. She was a wonderful role model for her children and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Katy LeBlanc of New Iberia; Steve Broussard and wife Patsy; Gayle Stelly and husband Homer; Johnny Broussard and Clay Broussard and wife Lisa all of Delcambre; Clora Darcey and husband Douglas of Lydia and Gussie Broussard and wife Bonnie of Maurice; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Gordy and Lela “Mim” Miguez; one brother, Donald Miguez and one sister, Mary Nell Comeaux.
Pallbearers will be her seven children, Katy LeBlanc, Steve Broussard, Clora Darcey, Gayle Stelly, Johnny Brousard, Gussie Broussard and Clay Broussard and Cathy Broussard.
