Gertie B. Broussard

ABBEVILLE—Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Gertie B. Broussard, 91, who died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Pelican Pointe Healthcare & Rehabilitation.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Father Brian Weber officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Jimmie St. Marie Jr., David St. Marie, Jason St. Marie, Andrew Broussard, Joey Broussard and Robert Broussard.
Spending time with family and friends was very important to Gertie. She loved family gatherings, especially on Sunday when she would cook dinner for them after attending Mass.
She is survived by her three sons, Mark Anthony Broussard and his wife Cyndi of New Iberia, Philip John Broussard and his wife Michele of Youngsville and James Francis Broussard and his wife Karen of Sunset; two daughters, Elizabeth B. Higgins and her husband Arch of Covington and Catherine B. Decuir and her husband Dale of Abbeville; two brothers, Andrew Broussard of Delcambre and George Broussard of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Zula Broussard of Leroy and Margaret Roy of Slidell; nine grandchildren, Andrew Broussard, Jeannie B. Hebert, Hollie Broussard, Jimmie St. Marie, Jr., David St. Marie, Jason St. Marie, Julie Broussard, Emily Broussard and Deserie Broussard; and twelve great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lovelace Mark Broussard, parents, Remy D. Broussard and the former Claudia Duhon; grandson, Blake Anthony Broussard; a brother, Isaac Broussard; and sisters, Nella Lalande, Gladys Frederick, Ada Guidry, Mae Dora Boudreaux, Sadie Webb, Annie Broussard and Velma Lormand.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Thursday, October 9, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Friday October 10, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
