Elton John Barras

DELCAMBRE – A Memorial Mass will be conducted for Elton John Barras, age 65, at 2:00 pm Friday, April 4, 2014 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Fr. Nathan Comeaux officiating. Interment will be held privately at a later date.
Visitation will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre beginning at 12 Noon until service time.
A native of Vermilion Parish and resident of Abbeville, he passed away at 9:00 pm on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at his daughter’s residence in Erath.
John had a love for the outdoors and was a commercial shrimper for many years. He will be missed dearly by his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his two daughters, Vicky Campbell and husband Chad and Kimberly Barras and husband Nathan Campbell all of Erath; three sons, Jason Barras, Chris Barras and Shawn Barras all of Abbeville; seven grandchildren, Haley and Logan Campbell; MaKaylin and Treylon Miller; Barian and Ryan Barras and Pierre Barras; his mother, Elrina Schexnayder Barras of Abbeville; three brothers, Felix Kent Barras of Kansas; Darryl Barras of Abbeville and Gerald “T-Beb” Barras of Delcambre; three sisters, Rose Mary Delahoussaye and husband Larry of St. Martinville, Lilly Barras of Abbeville and Anna Viator of Delcambre.
He was preceded in death by his father, Felix Paul Barras;two brothers, Donald Barras and Vernon Barras and two sisters, Belva Landry and Mona Faye Barras.
