Dr. J. Peverly Broussard

KAPLAN—Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan honoring the life of Dr. J. Peverly Broussard, 83, who died Thursday, August 7, 2014 at LA Extended Care Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Kaplan Cemetery with Reverend Matthew Barzare officiating the services. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Rost, Claudio DeLira, Rene Broussard, Jude Viator, Cody Broussard, Wade LeBlanc, John Paul Broussard, Carl Turnley, and Blake DeVille.
Dr. J. Peverly Broussard was born on November 23, 1930 in Kaplan. He was a graduate of Kaplan High School, SLI. And Texas A & M. He was a practicing veterinarian in Vermilion parish for many years and retired with the Louisiana State Racing Commission. Dr. Broussard was also the owner of Offshore – Inland Services and past president of the Vermilion Parish School Board. He was an avid horseman and cattle rancher.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Rosemary V. Broussard; special friend, Maria Lucia Graves; one son, Dwain J. Broussard and his wife, Charlotte of Kaplan; one daughter, Jan B. Rost of Kaplan; two brothers, Daniel P. "Me" Broussard and his wife, Shirley of Nederland, TX and Dr. James E. Broussard and his wife, Dr. Sue Broussard of Kaplan; four grandchildren, Justin Rost, Lisa East, Donna Rost, and Rene Broussard; four great grandchildren, Ali East, Brenon East, Cheryl Ann Rost, and Kalem Rost; and four step-children, Billy DeVille, Becky Viator, Claudio DeLira, and Barbara Graves.
He was preceded in death by his wife of ten years, Betty D. Broussard; his parents, Odra Broussard and the former Flavie Compete; one cousin, A.J. "Bully" Broussard; one infant son, J.P. Broussard, Jr.; and one infant daughter, Rochelle Broussard.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Kaplan, 300 N. Eleazar Avenue, on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 7 p.m.; Saturday, August 9, 2014 from 8 a.m. until services.
