Dalton Joseph Toups

November 21, 1949 ~ April 7, 2016

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 9, 2016 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church honoring the life of Dalton Joseph Toups, 66, who died Thursday, April 7, 2016 at his residence.
He will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery with Reverend Chester Arceneaux officiating the services. Pallbearers will be Forrest Taylor, Mickey Toups, Dalton Toups Jr, Todd Toups, Blaine Broussard and John Choate. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonah White, Noah White and Michael McCoy.
Dalton had a passion for hunting, golfing and spending time out in the great outdoors. He was a good man that always remained loyal, faithful, honest and fully committed to his loved ones. Friends and family will remember Dalton as a strong family man with a great sense of humor.
Dalton was a retired police officer with the City of Abbeville; he also worked as a firefighter with the City of Abbeville, drove a school bus for the Vermilion Parish School Board and was a supervisor for First General Construction Service.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Dawson Toups; son, Dalton Toups, Jr. and Janel Brisco of Abbeville; three daughters, April McCoy and Blaine Broussard of Erath, Aleigha Lashbrook of Abbeville, and Tonya Suire and her husband Troy of Abbeville; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Mickey Toups and his wife Lisa of Erath; and sisters, Julia Choate of Abbeville, and Dorothy Pere of Abbeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilton Toups and the former Lorena Touchet; son, Berry Toups; and brother, Ronald Toups.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, April 9, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
