Barbara Hebert Istre

October 18, 1941 ~ August 12, 2015

ABBEVILLE — Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Catholic Church honoring the life of Barbara Hebert Istre, 73, who passed away on August 12, 2015.
Father David Hebert will be the Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the funeral services.
She will be laid to rest at St. Paul Cemetery, Abbeville.
She was a beautiful soul with whose spirit was that of charity, kindness, humility and never-ending faith. She enjoyed laughter and making family, friends and all those whose path she crossed laugh.
She is survived by her husband, C.J. Istre; sisters, Mary Frederick and her husband, Presley Frederick, Laura Menard and her boyfriend, George Hebert; three daughters, Laurie Hebert and fiancé, Kerry White, Christina Hebert, Claudia Adamczyk and husband, John Adamczyk; three sons, Gil Hebert and fiancée, Bobbie Hubbard-Camel, Greg Hebert and girlfriend, Imelda Whitehurst, Kodi Istre and wife, Rachael Istre; six step-daughters, Connie Dragna and husband, Sam Dragna, Jr., Linda Smith and husband, Spencer Smith, Lisa Singer and husband, Robert Singer, Kateri Duckworth and husband, Troy Duckworth, Gemma Duck and husband, Chris Duck, Frances Broussard and husband, Chet Broussard; one step-son, Bert Istre and wife, Kristi Istre; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and additional relatives.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Steve Hebert; and her parents, Clifton J. Abshire and the former Lena Meaux.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home-Abbeville on Friday, July 14, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Joe Hebert at 7:00 pm on Friday evening in the funeral home. Visiting hours will continue on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of services.
Pallbearers will be Gil Hebert, Greg Hebert, Kodi Istre, Bert Istre, Allen Saltus IV, and Matt Landry.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heart of Hospice especially Robin Broussard and Patrice Leblanc whose compassionate care during her time of need was most appreciated. Additionally, the family would like to thank all of the many friends and family who held her and the family in prayer. Your gifts of prayer have brought great comfort to all.
