Barbara Campbell

October 1, 1940 - October 18, 2014

Mrs. Barbara Ann Campbell, age 74 died Saturday, October 18, 2014 after an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Abbeville, LA, Ms. Campbell was born in Mobile, AL to the late Boykin and Mattie Reeves.
She was affectionately known as “mother” to children and most who knew her because of her maternal, loving heart. She was described recently as a momma who would “tell it like it is, and then fix you a plate of food.”
To her devoted grand children and great grand children she will always be “maw maw”. She held their tiny hands for a little while but will hold their hearts forever.
Her entire life and all decisions she made were with her children in mind. She was completely devoted to family and there was no sacrifice she would not make for them. She recently described her life as “simple,” saying it was who she was and said that she had no regrets and if she had to live it over again she would want the same life.
Ms. Campbell and her family were blessed with the precious gift of time and used it wisely to prepare for her parting. Forgiveness was requested and given; love was spoken and shown; memories shared; laughs enjoyed; thanks expressed; apologies offered and good-byes whispered. Nothing was left unsaid and it was a blessing for her and for her family.
Ms. Campbell’s Christianity, faith and belief in an eternal life with God prepared her for this journey and readied her for crossover. She was accepting of God’s will for her life and she was ready to enter His kingdom.
In honor of and obedience to her last request, there will be no formal service. Her children will receive her remains in private prayer. A life celebration and memorial will take place at a later date.
Ms. Campbell is survived by her former spouse, father of her children and devoted love, Clifton Campbell, Sr.; one beloved sister, Delores Turner; 3 daughters, Yulandera M. Moody and spouse Thomas, with whom she had a special bond and spent many hours in prayer with; Yvonne M. Campbell, Yvette M. Campbell and companion Stanley Key, and one son, Chadwick C. Campbell; a host of loving and devoted step-children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved as her own; 7 grandchildren, Andrew Hunter, II, Nicholas Hunter, Kimberly Hunter-Cahee and spouse Carroll Cahee, Courtney Campbell and long-term girlfriend Willie Beckett, Christina Williams, Christin Williams, and Camryn Campbell; and 7 great-grand children, Barkli Guidry, Julian Hunter, Jamiliah George, Isaiah Druhet, Christopher Huntsberry, Charlii Williams, and Channing Williams; and one great-great grandchild, Zaiden Nelson; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
